About Darrynane

Darrynane is the home of Angela and David Clark and family. It consists of a house, four cottages, and seven acres of woods, streams, ponds and waterfalls.

Darrynane is an ideal base for wildlife and bird spotting, satellite tracking and owl hooting. Indeed, David has been know to "whistle up" the owls from the surrounding woods to bring them close to the house.

It has a truly unique location on the edge of the village of St Breward because it could be absolutely anywhere yet just minutes from the facilities at the village centre. There are no street lights which make it wonderful for stargazing on clear nights, watching for satellites, space stations and listening to owls!

There is a small play area with swings and a trampoline which visitors can use at their own risk.

Darrynane is a nature sanctuary with an abundance of wildlife which is able to move freely about at will.

Built in 1908, the house and Lodge were originally the home of Walter Sessions, a Gentleman of these parts and General Manager of a local clay mine who wanted to live in this area.

It later became the home of the parents of Rumor Godden, writer of "The Black Narcissus" and many other books.

Angela, David and family moved her in 1998
